Break Dance Crew

The Break Dance Crew at West Briar Middle School is an energetic and inclusive extracurricular group open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students who are interested in hip-hop dance and movement. As part of the school’s diverse fine arts and extracurricular offerings, the crew gives students a chance to explore creativity, build confidence, and connect with others through dance.

Students in the crew learn the fundamentals of breakdancing (also known as breaking), including moves like footwork, freezes, and basic power moves, while also developing rhythm, coordination, and freestyle skills. No prior dance experience is required—beginners and experienced dancers are all welcome.

The crew provides opportunities to:

  • Learn and practice hip-hop and breakdance techniques
  • Perform at school events and community showcases, such as local dance performances featuring groups like the West Briar Break Dance Crew
  • Work as a team, building friendships and collaboration skills
  • Express creativity and individuality through freestyle and choreography
  • Stay active in a fun, supportive environment
